In an extraordinary development, Jay Sekulow, a member of President Trump’s private legal team, has uncovered documents that prove that President Obama and his top staff took unprecedented steps in the final days of his administration to make sure Donald Trump would have a miserable time trying to govern. Using Freedom of Information Act requests, Sekulow and the American Center for Law and Justice found that James Clapper and others expanded access to classified information in the last days of 44’s presidency, ensuring that Trump’s administration would be one the leakiest governments in American history.
From Sekulow’s Fox News Op-Ed:
The documents confirmed what we suspected: the Office of the Director of National Intelligence rushed to get the new “procedures signed by the Attorney General before the conclusion of this administration,” referring to the Obama administration.
The documents also reveal that Robert Litt, who worked in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, told the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense’s Director of Intelligence Strategy, Policy, & Integration: “Really want to get this done … and so does the Boss.” Presumably “the Boss” is a reference to Director Clapper.
And documents the ACLJ received that were produced by the National Security Agency show that NSA officials discussed that they “could have a signature from the AG as early as this week, certainly prior to the 20th of Jan.” In other words, certainly before President Trump’s inauguration.
It is easy to recall, of course, how overwhelming the Deep State attack on Trump was in the early days of his administration. Now we understand why it was happening. The Obama administration went out of its way to make sure its holdovers were primed with the documentation they would need to embarrass, distract, and derail Trump from the day of his inauguration.
To be sure, some of this was in development inside the Obama administration long before Trump threw his hat into the ring, much less won the election. But for this to suddenly become Priority #1 in the days before the new president took office…well, that’s awfully suspicious. And it’s doubly suspicious when you consider that Clapper, John Brennan, and other members of Obama’s national security team have made their hatred of Trump well known.
It might be time to call a few of these clowns in front of Congress and see what they have to say for themselves.
