Last year came with a great many lows for the media and the left, but few of their 2018 lies were more blatant than this one. After President Trump took a question about MS-13 gangsters in America at an immigration roundtable discussion last May, he told the collected audience that the members of the violent, murderous group were less than human.
“We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in — and we’re stopping a lot of them — but we’re taking people out of the country,” Trump said at the time. “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals. And we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before. And because of the weak laws, they come in fast, we get them, we release them, we get them again, we bring them out. It’s crazy.”
Context made it absolutely clear that he was speaking of criminal gangsters. But it didn’t take his enemies in the media and the Democratic Party long to strip his quote of its context and spread it around. Mainstream sources (like CNN – imagine that!) quickly corrected the record, but by then the left had moved on to their next manufactured scandal. Apparently they moved on so quickly that they forgot about this incident entirely.
We say that because the clip is making the rounds again, and it is once again being stripped of its MS-13 context.
“Racist language like this has led to violence throughout the world’s history. No human being is an animal. We have to be better than this,” tweeted presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand on Friday.
She was joined by fellow candidate Pete Buttigieg, who said: “You do not refer to human beings as animals. You just don’t.”
DNC Chairman Tom Perez, who has no excuse for not recalling this clip from 2018 and the context to which it belonged, tweeted: “This type of dehumanizing language is dangerous and against everything we stand for as a country.”
Ana Navarro, who is still telling people that she’s some form of conservative, was one of the worst Twits to respond. She included a photograph to make her (entirely incorrect, reckless) point: “This is journalist, @TifaniRoberts comforting a small boy on the border. He was shot in the throat by Ortega’s thugs in Nicaragua. This little boy is seeking asylum in the United States. His name is William. Trump calls him ‘animal’.”
Not a single one of these bozos tried to set the record straight. Maybe they genuinely didn’t know, in which case they are merely ignorant. But at least a few of them are outright lying to their followers on social media. Or perhaps they think it is actually a sin of significance to insult gangsters who would just as soon rape your daughter as look at you. It wouldn’t surprise us; the moral world of a liberal Democrat is a wacky place indeed.
